About Dissident Development
Dissident Development is a sustainable community design + development firm. Our purpose is to create environmentally and socially sustainable, resilient communities and homes.
We’re based in the traditional territories of the Gitxsan Nation in the Northwest region of the province, and we co-create thoughtful, resilient communities all over British Columbia.
A resilient community is a place where people like you can share something valuable: community living that sustains and connects us.
It's an ancient concept reimagined for the 21st century.
Dissident Development would like to acknowledge that the Bulkley and Skeena Valleys, where we gather, work and play, is located within the unceded territories of the Gitxsan, Wet’suwet’en and Tsimshian peoples. Since time immemorial, these have been their traditional lands. We are honoured and grateful to have the opportunity to reside here.
About Our Founder
principal
Jason Koldewijn
Jason Koldewijn is the founder and principal of Dissident Development, an ecologically minded community design-and-development firm located in the Hazeltons on Gitxsan Laxyip in the Northwest region of so called British Columbia.
As an experienced project manager, certified energy advisor, and construction administrator with over 30 years of professional experience in the construction industry, Jason brings diverse knowledge and understanding to the complexities of project design and development.
Sustainability, community, and resilience.
After decades of working and living as a full-time single parent within the confines of our modern capitalist and colonial constructs and the separation and isolation that it creates, Jason sees a profound need for our society to return to more connected community living.
What matters most to Jason and Dissident Development is sustainability, community, and resilience.
By gathering people together to co-create projects that are thoughtful and supportive, we will usher in a new era and leave behind a meaningful legacy for future generations to build and improve on.
